Let me start off by apologizing. My day is supposed to be Wednesday! I am also an actress, so much of my time is devoted to running from set to set all over LA. I have set a reminder for every post on my phone, so I won’t miss my day again. Hakuna Matata! I was wondering who among us would be the first to screw up. I guess I won!
I recently moved to a new apartment, which is significantly larger than my last. I have not yet finished organizing due to my insanely busy schedule. There are quite a few things that still need to be bought and sorted. Luckily, I have a picture of my writing space from my previous habitat. I am planning on keeping the design/theme the same (just with slightly different placement and few new items).
Let me also say that I do not confine my writing to my bedroom only. Sometimes I feel like writing on the sofa in the living room. I may go outside and sit around the hot tub, if I feel so inclined. Whenever I go hiking, which is often, I make sure I take a notebook and pen with me. I’ll find a nice, shaded spot and sit there for several hours writing. It really just depends on the kind of mood I’m in. Most of my mobile writing is note taking, character descriptions, brain storming session, etc…
My bedroom is a whole different story. Here, I can let my mind lose and delve deep into my imaginary worlds. This is where my novels come to life. My scripts are usually written in the living room on my desktop. (It just feels so official.)
When I’m ready to write in my bedroom, I collect all my notebooks, rough drafts, artwork, cats, a bottle of water, and my laptop. I turn on my globe-shaped table lamp and light a few candles. The soft light bounces between all the mirrors and creates a calming atmosphere. It’s almost sexy. Luna and Piper (my two cats) get comfy with me, and I begin.
The theme of my room is very “sea” oriented. I love ocean colors and tones of blues, pinks, and lots of white. Over the years, I have collected seashells from every beach I’ve been to and have multiple pieces of mermaid art. I also like to keep magical whimsy in my writing space with crystals and stones. Yes, I have many stuffed animals on my bed and tones of pillows. Rapunzel, Snow White, a giant Princess Diana TY Bear, and other cute critters give me something soft to fall back into.
This is the kind of inspiration I like for the most part. If I need something else to fuel my imagination, that is when I become mobile.
If you have any questions about what you see in my room, don’t hesitate to ask! Until next time, go forth and sprinkle glitter on everyone you meet. It will make their day or piss them off. Either way, you’ll make an impression!
Hey guys! It’s Taylor. So, for this time around we’re all going to talk about our writing spaces with pictures included.
Confession time: It’s been a while (like a few years, maybe :/) since I’ve had an actual writing routine. My routine use to include a hot cup of tea with enough sugar to put a normal person into a diabetic coma. I would climb into bed and turn my electric blanket on because electric blankets are awesome, and would write on my computer.
I honestly don’t know what happened to that routine, but I’ve lately just been writing when inspiration strikes and sans tea. But my comfy bed and electric blanket are still included! Now, though, I can’t adjust the heat setting on my blanket because I may or may not have spilled my vanilla milkshake on the controller. Oops. RIP Controller.
Another thing that might be worth mentioning is when I write I HATE to be interrupted, like it’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I could’ve been on the verge of a writing breakthrough but because someone needed to ask me a random question, we will never know. (More than likely, I was simply on the verge of a crappy sentence, but hey, a crappy sentence is better than no sentence!)
But I think that’s enough rambling for tonight. Here’s my comfy bed where I write. I would also like to point out that the pink blanket is not mine. It is, in fact, my cat’s because she’s spoiled, and claimed it the first night I got her.
See you guys in two weeks!
Greetings from Little Rock, Arkansas on this fine Thursday morning! The temperature is a whopping 47°F at the moment- and I am certainly not complaining.
Hey! My name is Colleen and I’ll be gracing you with my words every other Thursday here. I am super excited about this blog! And it’s not only the writing aspect- but reading posts and getting feedback within a great writing community as well. And hey, it gives me something to look forward to apart from my day job. 😉 The dream is to travel the world and publish some novels. But we have to start somewhere, right?
I suppose I should tell you a bit about myself. Let’s see. First and foremost, I’m a Christian. God is my number one and it comes out all over the place in my writing. Also, music is my oxygen. I listen to all kinds of genres. And when I’m writing, film scores are usually my favorite motivation.

Greetings from the City of Angels!
Let me start off by saying that this blog is basically a group of writers sharing our creative worlds with you. I’m Darby, and there is a reason that my day is Wednesday. You will come to know me, and the others, quite well. So, without further ado, I present my questionnaire for your viewing pleasure.
Name: Darby Grace Riales
Introvert or Extrovert: Extrovert (ESFJ)
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Siblings: Only child

Birthplace: Memphis, TN
Favorite Color: Rose Pink and Aqua Blue
If you could be any animal, what would you be: 1.) A cheetah because they are super fast, yet still so elegant. 2.) A hippo because then I could be as fat, mean, and lazy as I want with no natural predators.

Favorite TV Show: Game of Thrones, Spartacus, The Walking Dead, Charmed, Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes
Favorite Singer or Band: Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga

Do you speak any foreign languages: Spanish and Italian
Which Disney Princess do you most identify with? Wow! That’s a blog post on its own! My favorite Disney Princesses are Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Rapunzel, and Merida. The reasons are as follows: Jasmine – independence from oppressive men; Pocahontas – courage to stand up for what’s right; Mulan – bravery to challenge the system to save the one’s you love; Rapunzel – inspiration to always follow your dream no matter who or what tries to get in your way; and Merida – freedom to make your own destiny. I like to think I embody all of these traits. However, I believe I most identify with Jasmine simply due to her highly feminine/glamorous nature. Plus, her taste in men is impeccable!
What do you like to write and/or read? I certainly prefer to stay in the realm of fiction. I adore fantasy, classics, and YA for pleasure reading. As for my own writing, I tend to stay within the genres of historical fantasy, fantasy adventure, horror science fiction, paranormal science fiction, and romance. I have finished the first draft of my first novel and am in the process of editing it. I am also writing a television script. Whenever I feel like I need a break from these two, I dabble with some of my other ideas.
Hey guys! It’s Taylor here!
Look who gets the honor of making the first post (no pressure, right?). Anyway, we’ve decided that for the first few posts we would answer random questions about ourselves so you can get to know us. The next post will be up on Wednesday!
Now, you obviously know my name (or at least I hope so, otherwise, you have terrible reading comprehension) so we can go ahead and skip that question. But something that you might want to keep in mind is that I’m a night owl. I’m writing this at 11:40 at night. No, I’m not going to get up early to do this blog. And no, I don’t like writing during the day. Soooo that means that I’ll usually post at night. I don’t know when other people will post because some of them might be crazy morning people (*gasp*).
I will never be one of those people.
Alright, enough blabbing. Enjoy learning random facts about me 🙂
Introvert or Extrovert: Complete introvert. I love people, but only for a certain amount of time.
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Siblings: Only child, but I’ve always wanted a sibling.
Favorite Color: Yellow, red, turquoise, purple, pink, green, black, etc. I’m a little indecisive.
If you could be any animal, what would you be: My cat, Molly. Such a spoiled girl 😉
Favorite Movie: The Notebook, Mean Girls, Pitch Perfect, A Walk to Remember, Bridesmaids…There’s that indecisiveness again.
Favorite TV Show: Right now, it’s Say Yes to the Dress, but I’m a fan of House Hunters and Dr. Phil (and yes, my grandma did get me hooked on this show).
Favorite Singer or Band: It changes all the time. But Nsync will always have a special place in my heart. Bye, bye, byeeeee.
Pets: Molly. And I recently got fish. It was a compromise from getting a dog.
Place you want to visit most: Italy again. Ciao bella.
Favorite subject in school besides writing or English: Art
Do you speak any foreign languages: Nope. Not as cool as Darby.
Which Disney Princess do you most identify with? Belle. But my favorite will always be Ariel (because, c’mon, who doesn’t want to be a mermaid?).
What do you like to write and/or read? If you asked me what genre I write in I would say YA/Crime/Drama/Suspense/Romance/Mystery/Chic LIt. (and this is all in the same story). I’ve also been known to dabble in supernatural. As far as reading I love YA, especially those sappy romance stories. I also love reading nonfiction books about Christianity, mystery, crime, counseling books (I know, I’m weird), and any other book I randomly find on my shelves.
Oh, and as far as the counseling books go, I am going to school to be a counselor, so that wasn’t completely random.
So, I don’t quite know how to end this thing. What’s the protocol for ending an awesome blog post?
Not sure, but I’ll go with this for now…
